Greet, Explain & Send (10 minutes)
Event leader/s should welcome participants, explain the overall idea, tell them when to return (usually 45-60 minutes after the start) and send them prayerfully.
Sent (40-60 minutes)
Participants will go together in small groups to take pictures on their phones of street names, storefronts, neighborhood spots, parks, schools, gas stations, other churches, fire departments, etc. They are looking to capture images of significant places for which they will pray, including places that might not seem notable at first glance.
Return (40-60 minutes)
Participants will return, choose photos, print photos, have a rest and snack, and re-gather for sharing, prayer and a new sending. It can be expected that they will not arrive all at once, but event leader/s will guide returning participants to start the printing process and to coordinate that with a snack break. The groups will choose photos to be printed and make two copies of each good photo at the printing station.
The full group re-gathering should start 15-25 minutes after the target return time. The event leader/s will welcome everyone back and could ask each group to share one photo and prayer. After sharing, put photos up in a prayerful way. (Spend at least 30 minutes on this. Don’t skimp on prayer!!!)
Re-Send (7 minutes)
The leader should explain that each participant should take at least one photo and a prayer card, so that she can continue to pray with it. At a time of her own choosing, she is to return the photo with a note on the reverse side and the prayer card. Participants should be encouraged to choose an obvious spot, so it will be found. Include a benediction or charge with the explanation.
Ask people to share if they’ve prayed and returned their card. If they have, encourage sharing about this experience as a testimony time on Sunday and/or other corps programs.
Consider adding new photos to the photo display of participants at those spots, new spots, or new prayer concerns, etc. Have a basket or jar of photos and prayer cards that can be taken home. Talk about it. Encourage your welcome team to invite people to visit the prayer wall and to participate.
Be creative about new opportunities to encourage exploration and prayer and do a follow-up event or Sunday.
Share about your experience through your Corps Facebook, Instagram, the Mobilize GO app and by sending a message to Salvation Army Women’s Ministries USA South on Facebook.
